Hey, I’m Sarah. I’m a former city girl turned farm girl when I married my homesteading husband in 2004. I am dedicated to helping you have success on your homestead. I’m also looking forward to showing you the ropes of cold process soap making!
As I mentioned I married my husband in 2004, and in 2007 we bought our very first house and immediately started our own giant garden. We love growing our own food and preserving it to feed our growing family.
In 2008 I started making my own laundry soap as an effort to help my small toddler’s sensitive skin. From there, my love of soap grew and I ended up starting a small soap company in 2009, which was launched on Etsy in 2010.
In 2014, I went to my good friend Bethany who is a graphic designer for some help on my labels. And that snowballed into her becoming my business partner, and then teaching her everything I know about making soap. To this day, we make all of our products from scratch, and sell our products in brick and mortars, on etsy, our website, and we also support our local festivals and markets.
Recently in 2018, my husband and I and our 5 children bought a new home (and older home with a barn on 2.5 acres) to start over on a “micro” homestead, I guess we could call it. We definitely are planting roots here in Northern Michigan! We currently are working on remodeling our home, building up our garden space for next years growing season, our berry patch, our new chicken coop AND… a new soaping area where Bethany and I can continue to serve our customers and our community as well as a space we can teach YOU.
There’s a lot going on, but I’m here to help you learn from what our experiences have been over the years. Also my husband grew up on a farm that was over 160 acres and comes from generations of experienced gardeners and homesteaders. So lets grow some awesome food and make some natural handcrafted soap, together!
